Sharon Anderson is a Business Solutions Advisor at The Accel Group. She began her insurance career while attending college and was first a commercial lines underwriter for Nationwide Insurance for several years before moving to the independent insurance agency side of the business. She has spent the last 30+ years as an advisor in the nonprofit, social service, and healthcare industries.

Sharon’s time spent on the carrier side of the industry early in her career has proven to be the most valuable. It has given her the perspective needed to advise clients on how they can prepare their risk profiles to leverage the best terms, coverages, and rates for their insurance year over year. Her passion and focus are on the identification and mitigation of risk.

Sharon has worked to obtain and maintain several industry-specific designations, including Chartered Property and Casualty Underwriter (CPCU), Associate Risk Manager (ARM), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), Certified Professional Healthcare Risk Manager (CPHRM), and a certified Cyber Liability Insurance Advisor.

Outside of work, Sharon enjoys traveling with her husband, who is an optometrist in Hiawatha, and spending time with their three adult children, two daughters-in-law, and a growing number of grandchildren. As a loyal Hawkeye fan, you can also catch Sharon attending University of Iowa sporting events. She also enjoys watching two of her three children develop their careers in the insurance industry.
